Watching the swimming competitions for the 2012 Olympic Games somehow reminded me that we still don't have an official word for the actor playing Finnick in "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" movie. Maybe casting an actor is all wrong for Finnick. Maybe the role should be played by a real swimmer. In fact, wouldn't it be fun to have your students compare the tributes in The Hunger Games or Catching Fire with athletes from the Olympics? Or compare the athletes to the Star Squad 451 from Mockingjay?
So, which athlete would you compare to Finnick Odair? Michael Phelps? Ryan Lochte? Or how about Australian James Magnussen?
You can use these photo prompts or make your own (the athletes do not have to be from the 2012 Olympic Games - you could use Olympians from the past or any athletes. See my Hunger Games Character Olympics for additional activities and handouts).
