Enjoying the Last Days of Summer...

In case you haven't noticed, I've take a little break from blogging this summer. I didn't actually intend to and have loads of ideas and classroom pictures to post from our Class Hunger Games this past spring, but to tell you the truth, I've just been enjoying my summer and I hope you have, too!

We have been enjoying some beautiful weather here, which means giving the air conditioner a break...which means we have flies. I really hate flies. I am the fly swatter queen in our house and usually kill them on the first attempt. Which got me to thinking...

So...what would YOU be in your next life if karma holds true? Might be an interesting (though morbid) prompt for your students, but you can always change it to relate to a character from the novel or a historical figure or famous scientist, etc...

This is the official "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" teaser trailer from Lionsgate® (Lions Gate Entertainment); the movie will be released November 22, 2013.

CLASSROOM CONNECTION
Teachers: If you wish to use this in a lesson, prompt your students to analyze the scenes (mainly from Part I...they don't want to give away everything, of course). Are they surprised about the scenes from outside of Katniss's point-of-view? Why or why not?
